I haven’t watched Columbo in decades but I still remember this one episode where he allowed a man to take the fall, if only temporarily, for his wife. She was dying and riddled with dementia and didn’t even know or remember that she had killed someone. So the husband took the fall so that she wouldn’t die with the knowledge that she had done such a thing. I had missed the beginning of the episode so this was a very upsetting twist for me.
The one with Leonard Nemoy was one of the best in the series.
Columbo does not loose his cool very often. The scene where he slams on Nemoy’s desk is genuinely unsettling.
Seeing Columbo lose his cool part of why that episode is so good. An actual challenge for a great detective.
I audibly gasped when he didn’t refer to Khan as “Mr Singh”

Season 5 episode 1, “Forgotten Lady” with Janet Leigh. One of my favorites.
