Isn’t this the same as saying HR is there to protect the company, not the employee ?
I mean obviously, any action undertaken by a company or employee or agent there of is to further their own interests.
However, often your interests align with theirs.
If you receive a “company email” about some internal policy which has been updated or something mundane, sure it’s purpose is ultimately to “protect company profits” or however you want to say it, but for an employee don’t you also have an interest in being aware of internal policies?
It just seems really reductive to say that the purpose of company emails is to “protect the writer”.

Good morning, coworker!
Just sending this email to create a paper trail of evidence documenting your ineptitude in completing the task that you were supposed to do last week.
Thanks!
I said I could start that task once I was provided with the requirements, and that it would take me three days. I have not received the list of requirements.
Re: Rhynoplaz
Good morning,
This email is just to inform you that the task you assigned me a week ago was completed and sent to you via email three days prior. Please see attached email with date of previous submission to you.
Respectfully,
Devolution
Not sure why I was included in this email chain, can you please remove me for further replies.
Regards,
Slazer
Good morning Slazar,
Please do not reply all to corporate email chains. Please send all off-topic communications through our slack channels.
Thank you.
For someone who was there for the RIM/BlackBerry Sumit Bhatia email event…
Please remove me from this email

rule #1, c.y.a.
The best is when you send an email and they reply in a chat or don’t reply all. Makes my spidey sense tingle
Or call instead of answering the mail, especially when its just “Im working on getting it ready”
I always send meeting minutes so I can remember what we talked about and to prove that expectations were clearly communicated or an email to prove that I communicated that there’s a serious issue and forces someone to acknowledge it.
When you find it necessary do this, be sure the conversation is also getting bcc’d to a home email
One my previous cto did this - I was shocked on why he would be doing so. But make sense only afterwards
E-Mails are also excellent, if you want to push through something unpopular. Send a long e-mail that will be ignored by most people. Repeat at least once. Then you can reference back to it at a later date.
