Not being able to live multiple timelines. I.e. having to make choices between one thing and another.
I can’t prove he had sex with kids, I’m just saying it wouldn’t surprise me if he did.
That wall looks fairly easy to climb over

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What did you think you've always needed until going without it?
9·23 days agoAlcohol. Turns out I don’t need it to be social, I was just using it to self-medicate myself into extroversion. I’ve wasted so many nights of partying, drinking too much and not being able to remember the fun times I had (or didn’t have).

I rarely cry, even though I feel sad quite a bit. Two things that help it along for me are sad music and sad movies. It would be nice to just be able to cry, but at least those medias help.
I’m sorry to hear that friend 🫂
I love the library too! I’m always happy when I’m in there.
Just turn away from your phone screen and go outside. There is an entire non-AI world to explore and steward.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•I don't actually read the news. I surmise the news based on memes that begin popping up for which I have no context.
2·27 days agoAgreed. Small talk seems insignificant but it’s real. Meeting folks who are different than you and seeing how they view the world is important. The public square and all that

6·28 days ago“News” is a very nuanced thing. Any news report already biases the facts, often without trying: different newspapers can state the same event in unique ways. And memes completely remove the nuance. So they are no longer “news”, they are a one-off joke about some complex thing in real life.
Don’t get me wrong I am the same as you, many news items I first hear via memes. But this is no way to learn about the world. I worry that our ability to digest and understand nuance is atrophying, at least in North America where I’m from.
Clean:
Two blondes are standing on opposite sides of a wide river. Blonde 1 yells: How do I get to the other side? Blonde 2 yells back: You’re already there!
Dirty:
Three generations of prostitutes were sitting around discussing their trade. The daughter complains,“I’m only getting $20 for a blowjob.” The mother pipes up and says, “Back in my day we only got $5.” Then the grandmother speaks up and says, “During the great depression we were happy to just have something warm in our belly.”
(this one is better if you do an old lady voice for the last line.)

I suck so bad at the first one, probably won’t spend any money to lose at this one until it’s on sale in a few years.
