Idk, I’m not sure it’s really that deep in most modern vernacular. Out of all social issues, being critical of people using slang like this who don’t intentionally mean it to be gender exclusive or biased is a choice you can make. I just think there’s bigger issues facing women than “guys” and “pussy” slang.

17·16 days agoIs it beyond the purview of the judiciary to impose actual penalties for wrongdoing?
Sort of. The problem is, the country has gotten so completely apathetic and desensitized that no one is ensuring the Executive branch is kept in check. This is what happens when you allow one branch of government to become so completely corrupted. Especially the branch that actually has the muscle/dumb grunts.

19·28 days agoMinnesota is gorgeous. I have friends that live in Minneapolis and the city itself is very cozy, as much as a larger metro can be. It’s a very community driven culture, and it’s one place you truly don’t want to piss off, because they 100% will unite against you.
Yes, but it highly depends on your friend age demographic and where you live.

You know who else was promising a radical shake up? Bernie. I lived in red ass Iowa at the time he was running, and everyone I talked to on both sides of the spectrum loved him. He even won the primary there.

41·1 month agoI disagree. The bottom rung already states they’re no longer making excuses and even questioning it results in you being labeled a traitor. The step above the bottom is also when they stop making excuses, you’re just not outright labeled a traitor.
Edit: phrasing.
Also, I’d argue we’re even already at the bottom rung in many cases. Just look what happened with Mark Kelly reminding the military it is their legal duty to disobey unlawful orders.

2·1 month agoI meant running in the sense he’s actually governing, which he isn’t. He’s a dictator that’s terrorizing his own citizens while everything in the country is crumbling. What little governing IS actually occurring, is being done by his cronies that are implementing their own agendas, e.g. that idiotic tax break bill they created last year.

70·1 month agoI feel like crazy, because signs of his dementia have been clearly obvious for several years now. Why is anyone surprised by this nonsensical letter?
He is not “running” the country, his cronies are. They let him pop off with stupid shit like this because his handlers have learned that if they don’t let him do shit like this while their machinations are carried out in the background, he turns on them and they get kicked out of his cult. So they loot and pillage the country while their cult leader goes off on his tangents and pursues his weird/ridiculous/frightening vendettas. M

10·1 month agoYeah, I was quite drunk last night. You’re 100% right that in this context, soldiers would have the ability to disobey these types of unlawful orders under the UCMJ.

What I mean is that the vast majority of people using that slang in modern times aren’t associating it in the way you’re implying. The words virtually have no meaning in those contexts other than, guys = general term for any person present / pussy = being a coward. I get the root of it being sexist, but changing decades of slang when it isn’t actually that insulting is how we annoyed everyone. Marc Maron’s Panicked special covers this topic pretty well, I feel.
