1·22 hours agoI get annoyed by people complaining that the goal of a movie studio is to make money. Yes. That’s their job. They have employees to pay, it would be irresponsible not to try and make money. The goal of the company may be to make profit but the individuals working on films may still have a goal to make good art while they’re at it. Companies may be incorporating more diversity because they see it as a way to make money, but the individuals they hire to make it happen may be people getting a chance to tell the stories they want to tell. And if the goal of the company is to make art that appeals to as many people as possible, isn’t that also good for the audience?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do you decide if you are living a “good life?”
1·1 day agoIt all depends on what your values are. Some prioritize career, others prioritize recreation. Some value travel. Some value family. Some value education. Some value good morals and helping others.

I don’t think their intelligence would increase but their knowledge might.
In highschool, a friend and I once took the same chemistry test and each got 80%. We each got right the questions the other got wrong. So, if we had been allowed to work together, it’s likely we would have gotten 100%. On the other hand, we might have convinced each other of the wrong answers and lowered our scores to 60%. The knowledge we had in common made up 60% of the test.
When two people share knowledge, they may increase each other’s knowledge. The amount it increases depends on how much of the knowledge they already had in common and how much they each have that the other doesn’t.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What lurking suspicion do you have about something but is hard to prove?
3·2 days agoYeah, it seems like it may have been a way to resolve the love triangle. Of course, Harrison Ford almost didn’t come back for Return of the Jedi. I wonder if Luke and Leia would have ended up together in that scenario.

3·2 days agoI’m currently rewatching Once Upon A Time. This is a big spoiler for season five, episode 7. Merlin claims the first dark one killed his true love and then we find out that the first dark one was his true love and he was speaking metaphorically just like Obi-Wan about Vader and Anakin. This wasn’t a later retcon either cause it’s in the same episode. It was the writers deliberately misleading us for a surprise. I think they got the idea from Star Wars. The show references Star Wars a lot

5·2 days agoHe didn’t plan Luke and Leia being siblings. Unless he was into incest. There are cut scenes in Empire Strikes Back that show them being romantic with each other. They kiss in the final cut of the film too, but she was just trying to make Han jealous
