    Largely, they do.

I mean, you can check my post history if you want - I absolutely excoriate self-proclaimed leftists who refuse to vote when the choices are “Open fascist” vs. “Literally anyone except a fascist” - but most leftists are out there casting strategic votes in the US.

The issue is that this country is mired in right-wing bullshit, and politics are largely determined by community norms. I lived in rural areas growing up - when I check old stomping grounds on the electoral map and it tells me shit like “Voted 97% Republican”, it’s like… yeah, that fucking tracks.

I don’t know the solution, but I do know that most leftists are not the problem.

      To clarify.

I am not saying that good people aren’t voting.

I am saying that there’s a myth out there that there’s a vast number of Left voters who are staying home because they don’t like the Dems or the GOP.

I don’t know if it’s a myth so much as a good brainwashing. Many leftist policies when polled alone garner significant majority support. Unfortunately, a large segment of our society has fallen into hatred through identity politics, and their entire worldview is now aligned with the people (see right-wing billionaires) who fund and push that divisive narrative to achieve their own goals of power and wealth consolidation.

There are many Trump supporters who would gladly support a national health service if Republicans wanted one, but they could never get on board with Democrats to make that happen, because they exist in a media ecosystem that has for years portrayed Democrats literally as an enemy to be destroyed.

I mean, I’m pretty sure that the meme is saying that leftists need to shatter the illusion that liberalism is leftism to push forward a new paradigm in American politics, not saying that we already have a majority and just need to flex our muscle.
