People just adding others in pseudo-friendships, friendships that don’t really mean anything and people treating others like they’re a service or speed-dial or so. I am part of the last generation of people it feels like, where, you befriended someone with intent to build a bond with them and that bond is built upon year after year. You gain memories, then when the old memories are old, you make new ones.
I’ve noticed an alarming amount of people who’ll just add you because they only see you as someone to lean on. Not because the relationship is meaningful, but someone who is just there ‘when in need’ as they go off not doing anything for large portions of time. This creates an artificial, shallow and hollow experience where a lot of time, you will feel like you’re the one upholding the friendship.
And that only isn’t normal to me, but simply unacceptable. Then you’ve got people who can’t even go a day without communication so now they call it ‘ghosting’ which is another overly spammed word that has lost meaning. I’m low maintenance, who can go periods of time without talking but at the same time, I do also want things to be meaningful. Doesn’t have to be constant, just something within the year.
And I’ve had people in my life who simply cannot do that. I’ve had people who still consider friends after not talking for years and years. What do you mean you’re okay with that? That’s lost time! I don’t enjoy having to spend however long playing catch up.

I have too many complaints to list here and I’m sure others will take care of the most important ones. So I’ll just say the most recent one I’ve gotten annoyed with:
The whole internet debate culture. Every fucking thing is now a debate. One of the reasons I finally deleted my reddit account. I literally answered someone’s question and provided a bit of extra information in a neutral to positive tone. And the guy replied with “are you fucking dense” and started to argue with me. To give you an idea how fucking stupid and silly it was, it was a thread about “which invention had the biggest impact on the world” and the guy commented “why has no one answered ‘electricity’ is beyond me?!” and I answered “possibly because electricity is not a invention, it just is” and then noted how people have answered inventions that harness electricity. And for that I got abuse and arguing.
That’s not a one time thing. Go to any reddit thread and I bet 80% of the first child comments are arguing with the original comment. Even if there’s nothing to argue about. Same goes for youtube comments, “hey I liked the way you took that exhaust manifold off” is met with “yeah but thats the wrong way no one should do that or the car will literally explode!” and then the rest of the comment chain is just arguing and mockery.
I do understand that people have always argued. But it was never this bad. I’ve been chronically online since 1999 and while I have had frustrations here and there, its never been daily, until the last 5-ish years.
Personally I blame the tiktok/youtube debating streamers. Everyone thinks they are a Planet Peterson now.
Anyway, start arguing with me below:

I don’t know whether to upvote you for accuracy, or downvote you for obnoxiousness
Sitting on the fence is a weak stance. I am literally shaking right now reading you are comfortable with arriving atop that position so sharply. The only fair action wood be to post your beaming support and fall on the right side of it. It’s clear that everyone on the left side is not on the right side, you can only ever be on one side at any one time and nothing you can say otherwise is a valid defence against what everyone else has hammered on tooth and nail. Pivoting or hinging your bets to be able to swing freely is latching onto false security and like agate - ornamental. You clearly must brace yourself and picket a side, cementing your footing so you do not go around paling in comparison to others who are railing around with more electrified boundaries of what they are willing to uphold. May your shaded post and foundations rot in the rainy hell you have chosen to exist.

Brevity is the soul of wit. Even if you’re going for bloviating, it could have been a bit more compact.
I did get a Terry Pratchett vibe, so you’re certainly on the right track
Well argued! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpQlyUjp3vM
That isn’t debate. It’s being a ripe cunt of a person.
It reminds me of my dad. Anytime you said anything he didn’t understand he’d insult you.
I agree before short-form social media took over, people used to actually be articulate and thoughtful.
Yeah thats sort of what I mean. Everyone seems to be in a default cunt mode so they take everything as a challenge, debate or a insult. Its tiring.
Good point
You’re a lovely human being.
I disagree with that so very much!
Your mother is a hamster and your father smells of elderberries!
Shut your festering gob, you tit! Your type makes me puke! You vacuous toffee-nosed, malodorous pervert!
You have a point.
Yet you are a mental midget, with the IQ of a fencepost!
Look, I came here for an argument, not abuse
