    Why are we acting like a 3rd party isn’t viable? If you want to point to the green party and libertarians, are you also going to point out how awful they are as options?

      Third parties aren’t viable for national level positions. They need to establish state and local strongholds to attract more voters and have any support if they ever won anything.

        This didn’t stop the Whigs from being replaced by Abraham Lincoln’s party. They were the Democratic Party of the time, a fair bit of which didn’t care about slavery. Many former Whigs got frustrated with that, and left to form a party that would be opposed to slavery.

        A major party has died, and we can do it again.
