In the mean time they’re soaking up all the RAM, SSD and silicon processing which makes basically everything with any of those cost a lot more (like the RAM I bought for $99, 4 yrs ago thats now $560). Not to mention the power requirements and costs being passed on to the consumers that don’t want it anyway.
They’re also screwing up the environment in ways it won’t recover from.

This is sad to hear. I have an Ender 3 Pro that has been nothing short of a workhouse for 6.5 years now. I’ve upgraded a few parts here and there as thats kinda the fun. Dual Z motors 2 yrs after, upgraded the hot end to a direct extrusion one a year or so after that so I could print TPU. Just Got the silent motherboard about a year ago. Solid as a rock. A friend got the CR-10 shortly after, same luck.
With all the issues and sketchy closed source madness Prusa and Bamboo are having, i was tempted to upgrade to a much larger Creality unit, but I guess I’ll rethink or wait on that now.
The interest rate on a mortgage when I was 3 was literally 16%. Glad thats over… course the price of the house just went up to make up the difference.
While you’re probably right about the younger generation, there’s currently a huge movement away from cable and a million online streaming services and back to OTA. It’s why the antenna I bought 15 yrs ago now costs 5x what it did then.
My wife and I dropped cable 13yrs ago now and between the OTA, free streaming like Twitch and YouTube, and such, and buying physical BluRays we haven’t missed it.
Lets be honest, going to the arena sucks. Especially for a game like football where you will almost certainly be crazy far away from any action. I’ve gone to a few and outside the “it was cool to say you were there” part, I’d rather just watch it on TV. Not even taking the cost into account.
Bikes need to stop for red lights and stop signs. It’s not envy… I’ve seen cars get T-boned after running a red light, you will not survive that on a bike.
I don’t care if you share the road, as long as you follow the rules. If you switch to a path , be aware of pedestrians just like cars have to be aware of bikes. Safety first.

True, but that’s going to really be pushing your network links just to recover. Realistically, something like ZFS or a RAID-6 with extra hot spares would help reduce the risks, but it’s still a non trivial amount of time. Not to mention the impact to normal usage during that time period.
Rebuild time is the big problem with this in a RAID Array. The interface is too slow and you risk losing more drives in the array before the rebuild completes.

Dang it, I’m already boycotting them because i want to actually own my media and support local businesses and a bunch of other reasons, how am I supposed to boycott them harder to include capitulation to Trump?!
I prefer it, however there are apps for Mac to remap it if you like. I use Karabiner to remap my Capslock to Escape. I have Capslock and moving the escape key there is much more ergonomic and where i have it on my custom mechanical keyboards.

All it takes is a malicious actor to MITM or a compromised codebase or any other malicious things to slip in something and its also pwned.
I’ve seen too many widely recognized and supposedly secure things fail, to trust this with my passwords.
Honestly, as a Systems/DevOps engineer it’s always been well know that if you have physical access, you have zero chance of security. Sure it might take more time if precautions were followed, but you will be owned eventually, that’s guaranteed.
It used to be exactly that way here in the US as well… unless it varies from state to state? I’ve lived in a few and they all seem to have this sorted with the point system.

At the moment, most of that “money” is just stock in the other company. And the type of RAM and “GPU”'s being manufactured are not ones that normal consumers will use. They’re very specialized for AI en masse.
Another thing around that is that the major manufacturers being leveraged for that gear have stated that they are not increasing production in the near future because of this. It seems they’re mostly in a “wait and see, it might just be a bubble” mode as scale up takes a lot of time and only pays off with continued demand over a long period of time.
I’d love if it was going to be flooding the market with cheaper tech, but thats not been shown to be the case. And it’s really not worth the environmental impact in either case.
