  • I had a Model 3 for several years. I didn’t find the quality that great. I actually was surprised how average/slightly shitty it was. The interior of my Kia Niro is way nicer than my Model 3 interior was. Everything feels way more premium on the Niro.

In terms of software, again, my Model 3 wasn’t that great. I constantly had problems with the screen bugging out. Sometimes I couldn’t adjust the air, sometimes ghost cars would appear around me while I was parked, the cars would be twitching out. The worst was when I was driving on a highway, going like 120km/h, and then the whole damn car decides to reboot. Luckily, I was able to continue driving, but the speedometer was gone, the air started blasting (and I couldn’t control it), the radio was stuck (I couldn’t control it).

Yes, the Tesla touchscreen was high res and responsive, but so are modern cars now. I have a Kia Niro with a fantastic screen, high res, responsive, and I can use Android Auto. The interior build quality is also way better than the Model 3 was. I also have an Hyundai Ionic 6, which also has a great screen, also allows Android Auto.

Both the Niro and the Ionic 6 have pretty comparable drive assist features too. Tesla may still be ahead, technically, but other car manufacturers have closed the gap significantly.

I don’t miss Tesla at all.

  • I don’t really see a future of leaving unless they actualy start doing the “internment” stuff, this ICE thing is not “dangerous enough”

That’s the point of OP’s question. How bad is it gonna get? Should people start preparing to leave now? As you said, the process takes a while. By the time they start going door to door in Philly, dragging non-whites to interment camps, that’s a wrap. You waited too long to get out.

I get the allure of American Exceptionalism, thinking “Nah, this can’t happen here.” On the other hand, shit keeps getting worse and growing.

I can’t tell the future. Maybe things start getting better after mid-terms. Maybe Trump peacefully transfers power at the end of his term.

I feel like at least doing a little research into immigrating to another country is a responsible thing to do. IF things get bad enough, I want to have more or less an idea of where to go and how to do it.

If it’s really something you care about, I’d suggest:

    • switch your computer, phone, etc to your native language
    • look up famous authors, books written in your native language and read them
    • torrent media in your native language (see fmhy for example) (bonus non-english torrents could use more help seeding)
    • talk/share with your parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc more
    • take more vacation in your parent’s previous country

Personally, this is something I struggle with. I’m brown, don’t have an English sounding name (nor do I want one), and I was born in the USA, yet I’ve never felt welcomed here and have always felt like a guest in my own country. Especially right now with all the ICE shit, it’s very clear that even though I was born in the USA, I will never be considered Unitedstatian.

My family, native language, and culture provide some relief.
