  • At the dawn of the internet forums were anonymous on purpose and people were told never to reveal their identity. The concept of “doxxing” came about in this time to describe piecing together info that people revealed by accident to find their identity and break their expectation of anonymity.

Now the internet is mostly not anonymous, except for forums like this. Society hadn’t reconciled these things to any real degree.

Doxxing as a bad thing was never really a practice to be avoided in the journalistic space. They had (in theory) their owns standards around revealing identities.

So now everyone’s expectations are mixed up and nobody even knows what “doxxing” means. Basically just revealing an identity in any context.

  • You like many Americans are trying to solve cultural rot by putting in more rules. “If only we had a rule that ___” this wouldn’t have happened. That’s not going to solve this. Being a congress-person is a skill. It requires actual skill, and it takes time to get to know how to be most effective. You can put in this rule if you want, and it might solve the problem you’re targeting, but it will create many more. You can’t solve problems caused by cultural rot (literally tens of millions of voters being okay with this) by putting in more administrative rules. Ultimately , democracies grant the people the power to destroy democracy. That is what the US is choosing.

  • Unburned methane escaping is far far worse for climate change than burning it so yeah these strike are bad.

It’s the so called payer-decider gap. The costs of this are spread out among basically the whole world (payers) while the deciders of when to end this war are basically just the US and Israel (deciders).

Since they don’t bear the full consequences of the war, they don’t have to consider the full consequences when deciding.

  • There are a lot of Democrats that are not in any way progressive. For domestic issues there will always be a few that the GOP can count on to dissent and break the Democrat majority. For isreal-related there will be dozens beholden to AIPAC who will vote however the Israeli government wants.

This is the secondary danger of Trump being terrible: democratic party doesn’t have to actually change or improve to win. They just have to exist.
