One of our cats used to bring a slinky from a cracker to us in the lounge every evening and up to us in the bedroom every night.

That looks good. The current cats look very different from one another so I reckon that we’d only need three pictures to train it.
Unfortunately you can do damage after release so you’d need to be careful applying updates too.
We don’t let our cats out at night so it would be great to have a cat flap that knew whether each cat was in the house or not and could either lock the flap or lock it on in-only at a certain time of day.

Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•Every shuffle of a deck of cards is most likely uniqueEnglish
4·11 days agoFrom a production point of view I think that it would be very difficult (which generally means expensive) to create a randomised deck while ensuring that the deck has all 52 cards in it (although I’m just thinking aloud and have no experience in this area so could be wrong)
However, if the starting deck is truly random then the output of the shuffle would also be random so there wouldn’t be a bell curve.

I’m not so sure that it would be a huge blow. He’s only human and everyone is susceptible to the odd mistake.
He did get phished last year and blogged about it after it happened which is the transparent approach that security experts say is the correct response. I’m pleased that he followed the advice that he gives to be honest and don’t think any less of him for suffering a breach.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•This is crazy. Why don't you just take their car ?English
5·13 days agoIn the UK, you can get your license revoked for speeding. You can lose your license if you’re going a lot over the speed limit. If you’re going a bit slower you can get 3 or 6 points and if you get more than 12 points you also lose your license.
It doesn’t seem to do a huge amount to discourage speeding in my experience.

Games@lemmy.world•Why is Valve being sued for almost $900 million, but Epic Games wasn't sued when they bought Rocket League and Fall Guys to remove them from steam?English
61·16 days agoI’m pretty sure that Amazon also says that you can’t sell things on Amazon for more than you sell the same item elsewhere.
I’ve certainly seen a video claiming that.
Dogs are loving and affectionate by default but cats just need a bit of love and affection back to get there.
I wonder if the answer is to either:
- delete all posts and votes for accounts that are deleted when they are less than a day old (or whatever age works)
- or delete all posts and votes made within a day of the account being deleted
That second one protects against hacked accounts posting shit and then being deleted but I’m not sure if that’s a problem.

41·26 days agoIf the police asked me for my camera footage with a good reason I’d probably give it to them. It should be my choice though so I’m never going to buy a camera that’s not local storage.
They weren’t trophies but I liked the challenges for Titanfall 1 that allowed you to ascend to the next level.
They were mainly using different weapons that I probably wouldn’t have tried because they didn’t seem as good as the easier to use weapons.
Also, if it’s a piece of furniture they’re absolutely not going to tell you what the measurements are.
You have ultrasonic level sensors for oil tanks so I reckon that it would work in a well.
They do seem to categorise smells as “interesting” and “not interesting”.

Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•The measurements on my water bottle are not uniformEnglish
4·1 month agoIt depends on the units that you’re using.
They are a uniform volume apart but not a uniform length apart which is what I think is the mildly interesting part.
Mine is similar to yours in that it’s when I come back to a game after a while. My problem is that the difficulty of the game has increased in line with where I am but I’ve forgotten the moves.

Cyberpunk 2077. I played that game all the way through three times but lost the love for it when they completely reworked the talents for the DLC. I just couldn’t get back into it after that.
