Eight fingers with both hands vs four and a dedicated thumb for zero? The number of fingers isn’t the limiting factor anyway. Like I said, if you’re not typing exclusively numbers, the numrow is fine because it allows you to type numbers and letters without repositioning your hands.
Num row is plenty efficient. It takes some practice but is probably more efficient for typing mixed strings of letters and numbers, which is more common than long strings of numbers. As for flying, I dunno, same way anyone flies. Throw yourself at the ground and miss.
You can use a paper filter after french press. I would personally just do a pourover at that point, but if you are unable to achieve a nice consistent medium-fine grind then you may get the best results with an immersion brew (James Hoffman’s french press technique) poured through a rinsed paper filter
True, but I just mean that daylight has properties that not all LEDs do, which is why some LEDs may seem harsh even if they are the same color temperature as daylight. But a good LED with high CRI and no flicker is nice at various temps.
Daylight is full-spectrum, not just cool. Flicker-free and high color rendering index. If you can get that in a bulb (bit more expensive than cheap LEDs) it’s quite nice indoors.

2·1 month agoFor video, bitrate is definitely king. 4K high bitrate just gets insanely large. I opt for 1080p bluray quality when available over 4K usually. I looked into AI upscaling for video recently and it can be pretty good, but it’s a technology that changes fast so I’d rather store the original resolution and upscale in real time later (if at all).
For games, I find even FSR2 upscaling from 1440p to 2160p is excellent as long as it’s implemented properly (i.e. scaling the 3D world and not the UI), and FSR3/4 even better.

3·1 month ago27" 2K is a good DPI. I personally only went up to 4K 27" because I also wanted OLED, and the 2K OLED panel I was using had some noticeable text fringing because of the subpixel layout. At 4K it’s not noticeable anymore.

181·1 month agoYou’re probably aware of this since you mentioned bitrate, but a lot of 4K streaming services use bitrates that are too low to capture much more detail at 4K compared to a lower resolution. A lot of games will recommend/effectively require upscaling (DLSS/FSR/XeSS) to achieve good performance at 4K. All of this is still maybe better than 1440p, but it shows 4K is still kind of hard to make full use of.

31·1 month agoIt’s very noticeable at the DPI of a 27" screen from arms’ length. Or maybe not if you can’t see very well. But on a TV from 10 feet away, I dunno if I could differentiate 1440p from 4K personally.

1·2 months agoChina/glazed ceramic is ok, but it wears over time and then begins to retain some material as the glaze wears out. Glass is sorta just better. A double-walled vacuum insulated glass with a thin, wide brim is pretty much ideal for taste, smell, and temperature.

They don’t need to pardon him. Just put some more armed goons between him and whomever wants to serve justice. They’re already using military force against citizens.

People on Lemmy are absolutely rabid about “AI” they can’t help attacking people who don’t even disagree with them.

Games@lemmy.world•Indie Game Awards Disqualifies Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Due To Gen AI UsageEnglish
0·3 months agoThe only takeaway is that the Indie Game Awards’ rule is overly restrictive. Woops, one of your contracted artists used a GenAI model to generate a music playlist to set the mood while he was working on your game, you’re disqualified and the fact that you didn’t come forward with this information immediately makes you a liar. Obviously absurd. If they’re going to take a strong anti-AI stance, it should be more realistic. At some point, maybe even already, every single competitor should be disqualified but isn’t aware or forthcoming about it, so what’s the rule actually doing except rewarding dishonesty?

By choice. Maybe they choose it to comfort Odo, or maybe because other humanoids recognize them as like Odo (the only shapeshifter they’d known before).
