I’m a fire eater, was doing my daily grind act on stage when it happened. Had a moment of disbelief but only like three people in the room knew what had happened, the audience didn’t. Afterwards I practiced it til I could film it in slow motion. No one has challenged my claim yet and I don’t think they will.

The trick involves two torches back to back, or one double ended torch. You eat the bottom wick in such a way that it pushes out a ring of CO2, which then rises and sucks the oxygen out of the second wick, extinguishing it like magic. It’s fucking hard.

I left one of the big tech companies this year. AI perverted absolutely everything. The only thing worse than vibe code is having to maintain someone else’s vibe code on a codebase you spent the last 7 years nursing. Vibe code is absolute trash, but it’s management’s shiny new toy so they make it everyone’s problem.

Expectations changed because of it. A project that would normally take 3 months to plan and implement was expected in a week, quality be damned. We racked up over 500 bugs in a year for a different unreleased application. I would get deadlines in the middle of my vacation days.

And I haven’t even gotten to the moral and humanitarian issues

I’ve been in tech for 10+ years and I’m ready to quit the industry. AI has absolutely tarnished it and made it miserable

I do think there’s something strange with how you taste it. My partner and I both love cilantro and will eat it in abundance, no issue.

Fwiw, I have a weird taste sensitivity to all seafood. I can sense the tiniest amount of seafood in a dish because it ruins the whole thing. I’ve learned that most people don’t taste seafood like that, so something like fish oil in kimchi doesn’t taste like you licked a room temperature anchovy.

Eating a piece of cilantro while I type this. To me, it starts with a fresh but subtle flavor that then intensifies until it feels like looking directly at a light, then it dies down with the aftertaste of grass clippings
