Next-gen consoles are rumored to be around a 5080 in terms of performance. With 32GB of unified ram, $1000 would be a good deal for that level of performance. If Microsoft added the ability to run windows on it, that would be a pretty compelling package.
Hopefully things will get better, but with ram prices where they are the steam machine would probably need to be $900 if it launched today without being subsidized by valve and is around the performance of a base PS5.
I hate to say it but consoles may be the better deal next-gen.
The best comparison is probably the “Biden is the most electable candidate” narrative from the 2020 primary.

Millions of people still don’t have healthcare under the ACA.
The ACA was based on a healthcare bill by Mitt Romney.
You’re literally using a republican bill passed by democrats as evidence for the parties not being the same.
Things can go either way. Canada can be moving away from the NDP; England is moving away from their 2 entrenched party. To cover your eyes and say FPTP makes things we literally have historical examples of impossible because it’s inconvenient is simply ignoring reality.
Yes FPTP does make it harder and we should end FPTP, but it is possible. Especially when both of the 2 major parties are refusing to address massively consequential issues such as healthcare and the military industrial complex.
Was it around the time when they passed their nationalized healthcare service? The healthcare service that wouldn’t be a thing without the NDP. The kind of healthcare we still don’t have here in the US. The kind of healthcare that polls at like 70% in the US.
I’m not saying we shouldn’t end FPTP but this has become a thought ending cliche.
England is mostly FPTP they have ditched both Labour and the Conservatives in the last few years according to the polls. Canada has FPTP and they have 3 viable parties.
The math is not preventing a third party. This mindset is.

The U.S. had one of the worst responses to COVID-19 in the world under Trump 1 in terms of number of deaths per capita. The scientists that point this out are a vector of accountability for Trump. Trump and his acolytes in the media could loose power if Trump were held to account for the mass death caused directly by his incompetence (or maliciousness).

We basically need an android compatibility layer before that can happen.

That reminds me, if you want a TV experience on YouTube that can also block shorts; I recently discovered “VacuumeTube” for desktop OSes.
But yes, “Enhancer for YouTube” is the only correct answer for the desktop experience.

“Enhancer for YouTube” add-on lets you block shorts on Firefox and Chrome.

I think the proper tactic is to stand by what we are. Bernie ran as a democratic socialist. He normalized the use of that term. By doing so he connected his supporters to a history of ideas, tactics and, thinkers. We need to normalize the idea of a general strike.

Will America have socialized medicine by 2050? Upvote for yes downvote for no.
I would but I don’t know how to remove the third demension from my heavy disks. :(
