  • Ayy, nice monkey’s fist. If you’re getting real into it a sailor’s knife with a marlinspike (blade has no pointy tip and there’s a fold out metal spike to help push rope through knots/lever rope out of knots)

Additional recommendation towards Dyneema (brand name of a type of High Molecular Weight PolyEthylene or UHWMPE rope) that’s about 50x stronger than paracord and quite cheap if you get it as an offcut from a small chandlery, plenty of them about on ebay.
I picked up some 0.8mm or 1/32inch stuff that can lift 65kgs or 220lbs and some 4mm that can lift 2000kg, because of course I need it to be strong enough to tow a car lmao.

  • Oh aye, especially over in america the 110 out the wall isn’t all that bad, its how they can get away without earthing any of their appliances.

But as a general rule, not going poking around and finding out, is probably one of the easier ways to avoid getting bitten by the grid (or by the last guy’s “professional wiring job”)

One of those Fluke non-contact live detection pens is a solid thing to have with you, if you don’t have a voltage detector and proving unit

  • First off start building yourself a “Shit has hit the fan and I need to get out of dodge.” kit to keep in your car/close to your door so you can grab and run if it gets REAL bad.

Keep it stocked and up to date (certain first aid items are only sterile for a year. Antiseptic Creams like Savlon go VERY bad when they degrade)

Additional components; heavy duty needles and some aramid or Dyneema thread (brand name of the high density polyethylene rope that’s strong as Fkk) for repairing things that need structure.

Also get yourself on an emergency first aid course, one that covers serious injuries and stopping bleeding is more than worth any price you pay for the lessons.

Learning practical skills like simple electronic repairs (I’m not talking about house electronics, that’s how you meet god in one of the most painful ways possible), how to diagnose car issues how to effectively tie knots in rope, and a few sewing stitches to repair clothes.

  • Oh aye I saw that one as well, funny as anything to see, and I definitely don’t disagree with the ‘find what you like and run with it’ attitude when it comes to luxury gear

I’m running on the most basic of basic usb headphone amp and dac units, can safely say it’s enough for my ears.

Fiio’s just one of those companies that make decent gear and isn’t just some clone of a clone in a fancy case with an unknown OS. In all honesty the bonus of having every headphone port type and the output to run them off one device is my main draw to it.

  • If you’re the type to needlessly argue the difference, you’re putting a very distinct hat on that says “I am emotionally invested in people’s perception of child abusers” and I say child abusers as a catch-all for those who are in any way attracted to kids. Because pedos and child rapists are in the same group whether they touch kids or not.

It’s similar, in my mind at least, to trying to separate the original WW2 nazis from modern day nazis by saying “The modern ones aren’t gassing minorities and invading poland so you HAVE to clarify which one’s you’re talking about.” As if they weren’t all part of the same group.

In terms of what I’m actually trying to get across; be very wary of who you defend when trying to police speech, especially on the internet.

I understand nuance is a thing but even I had to stop myself from assuming you’re the same as the “ackshually its ephebophilia so they’re not a pedo” crowd
