Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Vykar Backup (from Borgbase / Devs of Vorta)English
9·7 days agoThis was created with AI, so while it seems interesting, I will give it some time for others to find issues with their backups. Maybe in a couple years.
I switched to Gotify when I ran into an issue where ntfy would delete old api tokens when creating more than 20. Only thing missing in Gotify is UniversalPush, other than that it feels actually more solid than ntfy to me.

7·17 days agoHonestly, one look at the pricing page showed me why I would not use this service. FastMail takes 6€ for 60 GB of storage and custom domains, mailbox.org takes 3€ for 10 GB storage and custom domains. Yours would approximately come down to 30$ or 16$ respectively.
Damn furrys… stupid, sexy furrys… /pf
Okay, I will upgrade your kernel. proceeds to delete everything

Heimerdinger being suddenly onboard for the dangerous time travel experiments
As I see it, Heimerdinger was ready to give up, when he was removed from the PiltoverdCouncil by Jayce, his former pupil. He tried previously to dissuade Jayce from using Hextech like this.
Then he found Ekko creating a community in Zaun with an inspiring ingenuity despite pretty much everything else happening, so Heimerdinger decided stayed and helped out while teaching Ekko on how to improve on his designs. Heimerdinger wants to improve the world after all - but safely - and sees his opportunity here.
Then in season 2 they wind up in alternative dimensions due to Hexcore shenanigans, because Heimerdinger wants to help Ekko sustain his community. Jayce ends up in over where the “final battle” already happened. Heimerdinger lands in one where Hextech apparently does not exist at all and the city is better off because of it missing. One where Heimerdinger himself can probably be more relaxed as he has more time for his stuff and has to deal less with politics and betrayal.
Ekko arives 3 years later. And Ekko wants to go back no matter the cost. And this puts Heimerdinger in a pickle: the last time he tried to dissuade his his pupil the results were catastrophic. Ekko would have worked it alone (or would probably have roped in Powder) endangering not only himself but atleast Powder, probably even the Zaun/Piltover (mind you, Ekkos knowledge about Hextech is very limited, while Heimerdinger oversaw the research most of the time - and Hex is notoriously unstable).
So to protect the timeline/city/Powder/peace he liked as well as helping Ekko get back to his community the reasonable conclusion would be to help despite not being keen of the idea. The ~4 second limit of the Z-Drive comes from the instability of the Hexshards. Any longer and it goes boom, potentially killing people around. And this limit is what he uses to break Victors mask in the end for Jayce to intervene.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What open-ended question should everyone be able to answer for themselves? And what is your answer?
6·1 month agoI really like that. As a variation I’ve heard “What shall your gravestone read?” and then work backwards from that to make it happen. Currently I am struggling a bit with an answer for myself but I am working on turning something up. I appreciate your answer :)

don’t get scared when your habits and thoughts change.
I guess that is the quiet part of the question out loud, isn’t it?
This gives me some hope for my future. Currently I don’t see a spark for me to lose, so only upwards from here.
I certainly will try as I found a low I did not existed and the trajectory hasn’t been great for years, so something needs to change.
you can always add restraints to kick-start your process.
Though what do you mean by this? I seem to have trouble understanding.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What open-ended question should everyone be able to answer for themselves? And what is your answer?
12·1 month agoe.g. “What does love mean to me?” (To me the most obvious question.) For me it means choice and then effort. I choose my partners every day and I hope they make that choice too. Then comes the effort to make the choice known, in little as well a big gestures.
(Does this make sense?)

More damatic emotions get noticed more. But art can capture subtler experiences too.
Of course, ‘everyone can be artist’. But wouldn’t the lack of the dramatic lead to a lesser chance of ‘making it big’?
(Not that I have the desire or the skills to do that - I mean if I could spontaneously choose a super skill it would probably painting - just to probably mostly draw furry porn /jk unless)
Pay attention to all the qualities of your experience and you’ll notice it’s not just the intense ones that have vibrancy.
I will, once I get my brain in order. I am having a hard time recalling positive experiences right now, especially ones that are “vibrant” in any way. But I think that is the depression.
(In my opinion everyone should try their hand at a creative hobby, no matter if classic or unconventional, and I am trying to find smething that ‘sparks joy’ but its hard right now.)

12·2 months agoLol, there was a public playtest 2 days ago. They promised a mount and there were so many players stuck in queue. Originally they did not plan to reward the players in queue but changed their mind during the playtest. And now there probably won’t even be a game.
Not sure what Docker Hub has, but as sys admin you can pin to a specific 256sha, so that specific image can’t be taken over. However that conflicts with the idea of just running Watchtower.

Damn, sold out already🥺
