The only things it’s good for are kinda evil.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How'd you argue against a person who says rich people are needed to provide jobs to the poor?
1·8 days agoYou don’t need capital to hire people, you need demand. The job creator thing is a myth if you’re feeling charitable, or propaganda if you aren’t.

1·8 days agoI was actually just exaggerating for dramatic effect when I made this but apparently the codeword was jerky and Epstein may have maintained a strict diet of only human meat for a period of time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghUNyJzLkfE

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•If I took antidepressants for my Weltschmerz (world-weariness)... would I become a worse artist?
2·9 days agoLooking at Trent Reznor’s life and career I don’t think it’s ethical for me to tell you the answer man
I have been led to believe the sculpture was valued high enough to count as a felony and he is being charged at a state level too. He could actually be in deep shit that the president can’t pardon.
If you’ve got rodents, your cat has a real job.
I’m a bi guy. While I’m happily married, I can assure you that if I were looking for someone, I would not do this. Hiding who I am is not fun and can lead to bigger problems later.
I’m actually pretty sure that there are enough people of either gender who will not date a bisexual to make the bisexual dating pool smaller than the straight one.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•We will never know the name of a human that lived 50,000 years ago
42·12 days agoI just like to imagine there was a real person called Unga Bunga though. It seems statistically likely. Or some guy named, like, Andrew or something, but with absolutely no linguistic ties to any of the modern name’s roots, like it arose independently more than once.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•LLM's despite all the flaws it probably made it easier to switch to Linux. Have a stupid or niche question no need to be judge just ask an LLM.
2·13 days agoFortunately, the most invasive anti-cheats seem to be popular on games I don’t care for. So far my research has told me I might need to fiddle with Vermintide 2 a little but nothing else I play has it.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's the scariest fictional media you've seen?
12·13 days agoSOMA continues to bother me. Much more about the ideas than the actual gameplay. It’s relevant. It feels more possible every year.
It’s either that or Stingers from Satisfactory, which are zero percent philosophical nightmare and just pure AAAAAA SHITSHITSHIT

Speaking of that, I recently learned Steam can run Windows games on Linux and now I want to switch. I dual-booted Ubuntu a while back and liked it. What’s a good distro these days? If I just want it to be easy without the ever-expanding baggage of Microsoft, is there a better call than Mint? I know you guys are out there and probably stopping by to chew OP out for asking a LLM for technical advice.
Just gotta grill that shit and everyone will be drooling for it

156·13 days agoAmerifat here. We could use some light restructuring. Some newer democracies have features I think are improvements that could benefit us if deployed here. But the fundamental structure isn’t that bad, and I’m worried we’ll just get something worse if we try a full rebuild.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's your pitch for a brand new cryptid or local legend?
3·16 days agoCanopy crawler. It lives deep in forests and gets around by climbing high up in the branches with its numerous extremely long limbs. It hunts by grabbing hapless hikers and forest creatures that weren’t looking up, especially at night. Its limbs are crooked and its skin can easily be mistaken for the bark of a young tree, so look up before you get too close to that sapling or grabbing that hanging branch.

If it comes down to that guy or AOC in '28 I’ll sleep easy on election night for once.
