2·21 days agoThat doesn’t really get the idea across. The files are stored on the internet, so how about SkyNet?

You ain’t opening no in-game command console on the PS3/PS4.
You are if you’re playing Half-Life 2, Portal, or TF2 on the PS3 (or Xbox 360)

linuxmemes@lemmy.world•Where to go now since Linux is mainstream
4·22 days ago- Ascend to BSD-land. Start with FreeBSD.
- Once that becomes mainstream, go to OpenBSD, then NetBSD, then the very-rarely-used DragonflyBSD.
- Once that becomes mainstream (probably never, but still possible theoretically) switch to OpenIndiana, the FOSS version of Solaris.
- Then you can go to something even weirder, like the obsolete IRIX, the mysterious Plan 9/9front/Inferno, or the Rusty alpha-stage Redox OS.

PS3/PS4 run a modified FreeBSD for the OS, and the Steam Deck is literally a Linux PC. Plus you can open an in-game command console.
Somehow I read “Perc. Cue” as “Mini Gun” when the image was small

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do you think the internet will be like in a few years? Why?
3·2 months agoStratification between the corporate and the free world.
On one side, you have bots, bots, and more bots. Enshittification running rampant. AOL-style locked-down platforms, but worse, because they steal your data and your soul to fuel their profits.
On the other side of the fence is the side of freedom. The fediverse will have more users. Also, old-style personal websites/blogs could make a comeback.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why did you decide to join Lemmy?
12·2 months agoReddit gradually began to suck. Enshittification started to take its toll, but I was protected because I used Old Reddit with a lot of blockers, and I never used the app. Then the API crisis happened, and I thought “Why am I supporting a corporate big-tech platform?” So I left, because a bunch of other people were doing the same.
TLDR:
everyone else dideveryone who counts did.
How do I stop some big mean missed command from tearing up my main drive?
The answer: Use Ctrl-C. And if that don’t work, use more Ctrl-C.
And if that don’t work? Use Ctrl-Z.

Is the ladder broken, or not?
