It’s a parking brake/emergency brake/handbrake or whatever you’d call it. You pull it straight out of the dash to set it. To release it there is a small button on the back you have to hold, while turning the handle clockwise about 90° to release the brake.

This vehicle is newer than 1986. How do I know? Because dear old Dad had a 1986 Isuzu P’up, and it had a most similar parking brake, except it didn’t have the little button - you could just turn the handle. This is a problem when you leave your three year old in the truck unattended, and the three year old starts turning things. It’s even more fun when your other, older child (me) comes out to find your truck has rolled down the driveway into the car across the street.

Later vehicles added the safety button, making it “push button and turn”.

I’ve carried a couple of tampons and pads in my car for years, just because sometimes I can save the day for someone. I never thought about using them for earplugs though, that’s a good one.

The idea of a flock camera being installed was brought up at a town hall meeting I went to several months ago, they decided against it and the reason given was:

“I doubt it would last any longer than any of the local stop signs” (Almost all of which have at least one bullet hole)

I think there will be a time when it costs too much to keep a data center safe and operational.

I went to a town meeting where someone is pushing to get one of these data centers built. People are not happy about this. Nobody supports it. And when it gets built anyway, there will be a bunch of people who suddenly can’t afford their electric or water bills, and there’s a very definite and universally hated reason why those bills are suddenly so high. That reason has a physical location and an address, along with a lot of vulnerable infrastructure.

I went to that meeting expecting to be the only person against the data center. I was wrong. People are mad.
