  • This whole thing is a mis statement of the rule. The only violation Colbert would face, is if the other candidates request the air time, and they denied them. This whole thing is completely blown out of proportion, due to the fact that the election in question, is the democratic primary, not a general election. The two other candidates are Democrats also. I also believe that the FCC couldn’t actually enforce the rule on a primary election anyway, as it is not covered by normal election rules. A party is under no obligation to even hold a primary election, they can nominate any candidate with any rules they see fit.

  • Yes, I agree to an extent. Though, there is a difference between slow walking, small defiance, outright defiance of judicial orders and a full on sizing of power by the executive branch. If a judge uses old laws and does something like issue warrants and arrests executive branch officers or officials, my guess is that the Trump response is to outright seize the judiciary and arrest them. The Supreme Court is already in their pocket, so the crisis I am talking about is essentially a military type coup, ending America as we know it. This would the likely cause a civil war. The underlying problem is that many of the people behind this think that this is okay and are waiting for it. They think they can win.

  • One problem with your theory: The enforcement arm of the Federal Judiciary is the US Marshall Service. They are part of the executive branch of government, and as so, ultimately accountable to the President. In addition, Federal judges house prisoners in Federal Bureau of Prisons facilities, and, you guessed it, is also and executive branch agency. The current administration is making a point to not follow judges orders and ignore them at will.

It will take a very brave judge to get around this. Technically a Federal Justice can deputize their own enforcement and create a confinement area of their choosing. This will probably create a Constitutional crisis and very well could lead to a civil war. This is what the powers that be want, to burn it all down and start over.

  • Ya, unbelievable, isn’t it? DeWalt bits are soft and wear out/strip way too fast. DeWalt is in the same group as Black and Decker and I think that division makes the bits and just slaps the DeWalt name on them. Milwaukee and Makita bits last far longer and usually have better features. I recently got a pack of Diablo bits to try out, their blades and concrete drill bits are top notch, and so far the bits seem to be also.

  • I believe you are confusing laws with Constitutional rights, the US system is kind of confusing. The US Constitution sets up a framework of government and defines certain rights, further laws are made by Congress. The first part of the 14th amendment defines birthright citizenship as all persons born in the US, subject to it’s jurisdiction, as citizens. It makes no claim to a child born to citizens elsewhere. The Supreme Court has further defined that children born overseas in areas under the sovereign control of the US are also citizens. Congress has established a law that children who are born abroad to US citizens are also granted birthright citizenship. This does not interfere with the provision in the 14th, just extends it to a different situation. The case you quoted from, and in the article, is not arguing the part of the amendment about citizenship, but a different part of the same amendment known as Equal protection. The argument is that the law itself is unjust, as it does not provide the same rights to each parent. The court is giving a reason why this law does not violate equal protection.
