Minimum common sense response to this should be a push to require safeties on all new firearms sold in the US and mandatory gun safety classes for ownership. I’m not sold on this being an accident but even if it was both of those measures would go a long way to preventing deaths by firearm and not be an unreasonable burden on gun owners.
The gun did not apparently have a safety and safeties are not mandated by law (based on what others have said elsewhere in this post)
Elsewhere in this post someone mentions that the Glock the father was using does not come with a safety, surprisingly this is not apparently mandated by law on firearms.
Really? I would have assumed a safety would be required by law on all firearms post-, say, 1960 but I guess I’m not really that surprised.

I browse by c/All here, usually open a dozen or so tabs. Pretty regularly I come back to them hours later to read through them and at least one or two has the Error Post not Available message so the issue is present on Lemmy too, probably not to the same degree but still. This one is fake. Search FTW on the justice dept Epstein site. Its not one of the few occurrences of the word there. Actually saw someone last night post this and then figure out it was fake on their own on bluesky after an hour or so. So we’re several hours behind them in fact checking apparently and daily beast is posting misinfo.

I’ve heard this argument elsewhere but I can think of a lot of reasons Republican voters are much less likely to move addresses and would need to reregister to vote much less frequently. Include how this would affect married women and I would imagine this would affect the Democratic vote much more strongly.
