Hi, former optician here, your glasses are probably fine quality wise but you should consider updating your Rx more often, at least every 2 years. Eyes change more than people tend to think they do, and since our lenses can be adjuated with muscles we often don’t notice when our vision begins to deteriorate.

I have a total correction of about -3d in each eye, but if I dont put my glasses on in the morning I don’t need them and can go through my day normally. As soon as I put them on and am hit with the strain relief though I’m unable to go back to not wearing them for the rest of the day.

Edit: for clarity, I was an Optician, a lens technician. Not an optometrist/ophthalmologist, my experience with eyes is purely through being in the field where people get equipment from, NOT from actual medical experience.

This is true at Starbucks too, the freshness of the brew is not why their coffee is bad. This is the company that sold charcoal as French roast for years before anyone noticed it was so overroasted it tasted like bad fish and ash. (I’ve never had a more difficult roast to find a pairing for - Smore’s is the answer, if anyone cares, to make starbucks french roast not taste awful)

Your meme about displays got me to go fix the 4k60 output on my PC. I use a TV as my screen and the EDID it reports us borked and leaves it off so I had to make a custom EDID and inject it at boot.

10/10 way easier than it sounds, annoyed I had to use a popular windows program to do it though because the first copy I found of the app I needed had a Trojan (thanks VirusTotal for confirming I’m not crazy for checking every exe no matter how official looking).

In my experience it’s pretty cheap to get bootleg dvds imported. I’ve used eBay and walmart’s online store for getting 100% legit DVDs of things that definitely got physical editions.

I got Andor 1 and 2, as well as Fallout this way, mostly because fuck The Mouse and Beef Jesus.

Once my cat turned 20 she needed dust baths, it’s not that she didn’t like the water (she liked the warmth) but rather that she couldn’t groom her fur back straight and refused to allow me to brush her coat to straight, so she’d get matted otherwise.

She had an extra (clean) litterbox that I’d bring down out of storage for her to roll in that was full of diatomaceous earth and baking soda.

Sweet dusty cat, I miss her.

I install lots of new tools which I generally need right this second, updating is a non-issue I do that overnight.

I used neovim for a while, tried NVChad and it just felt off. Ended up switching to lunarvim and I’ve been really happy with it.

I tried Gentoo once, I just straight up do not have time for that. It’s fine, honestly nice even, but the waiting omg. Maybe I was doing things wrong but I don’t have all day to sit around eating for things to compile
