Good morning, fellow sobernauts, IWNDWYT, 😁!

We may be anonymous strangers on the internet, but we have one thing in common. We may be a world apart, but we’re here together!

Welcome to the 24 hour pledge! I’m pledging myself to not drinking today, and invite you to do the same. Maybe you’re new to c/stop drinking and have a hard time deciding what to do next. Maybe you’re like me and feel you need a daily commitment or maybe you’ve been sober for a long time and want to inspire others.

It doesn’t matter if you’re still hung over from a three day bender or been sober for years, if you just woke up or have already completed a sober day. For the next 24 hours, let’s not drink alcohol!

On a break atm, day 9. It’s my addiction check, it’s been a while and just wanted to know how far I’d fallen if at all. Normally drink 3-5 a day (used to be considered a moderate drinker, now that ‘moderate’ is 2-3/week? there is a PBS episode where they reassessed the effects of drinking on the human body, can post a link if anyone is interested), 1oz vodka with some juice. Only thing I’m addicted to seems to be the motion of reaching for a drink, so there is a massive glass of water next to me. Haven’t noticed any changes as of yet, same as last time. Last time I took a break was in '14 and that was for 4 months, noticed nothing (no changes in sleep, fitness, desire to do work etc) til I went to a house party and got absolutely wrecked on what would have only got me a strong buzz 4 months earlier. Not sure how long a break I will take, will be a minimum of a month at least. I am doing this for… absolutely no reason other than “Why not!” usually famous last words
