A Marine Corps veteran suffered a broken arm last week after he disrupted a Senate hearing to voice his opposition to the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran. Democracy Now! speaks with the veteran, Brian McGinnis, who is also a Green Party candidate for Senate in North Carolina. McGinnis is critical of U.S. policy in Israel and the Trump administration’s decision to go “full speed ahead with military action” in the Middle East. McGinnis is charged with three counts of assault on police officers and resisting arrest, according to Sellano Simmons, an attorney representing McGinnis.

SELLANO SIMMONS: Yeah. First of all, Amy, thanks for having us.

Brian [McGinnis] is facing four counts, three counts of assault on police officers. There are three individuals named, that are law enforcement. The fourth and final count is resisting arrest. He’s being charged by the United States government in Washington, D.C., Superior Court. And we’re looking forward to having our day in court regarding these matters.

Having watched the video, It’d be hard to call anything he did ‘assault’. Resisting, sure. Resisting tyrrany and genocide especially.

      There is some crazy stat around people who are in jail for years with the only charge being resisting arrest. It’s disgusting

        Simply breathing out of accordance with the officer’s will seems like enough to charge someone with the way they dole out the charge.
