If they quit being cops, they’re not cops and thus this is not an issue.

But as there’s a class war being waged, they are enemy soldiers for as long as they’re serving.

Honestly, that’s a fair position to take. If one regards the government in general as an enemy, police are no different than any other soldiers. Ironically, except, that the soldiery, historically, are far more inclined to side with popular movements than police forces.

Yeah. A lot of political junkies don’t understand just how insulated most normal people are from considerations of societal problems.

Most cops are dogshit because they buy into the siege mentality and have no oversight, leading to the temptation (and reality) of widespread abuse of power.

While I would not say in our current system there is such a thing as a ‘good cop’, I do believe that many otherwise good people end up in policing - and because of how insular police departments are in this country, some may legitimately go through their day-to-day jobs without seeing major abuses of power. The issue is that their narrow frame of reference and the lack of interest in social-level analysis then often poisons even those people into supporting ‘law and order’ policies, even if they’re as mild and patient a person as one could wish for in their personal policing efforts.

The number of departments who are headed and staffed by people with a good understanding of racial and economic disparity and policing abuses in this country is small. Not zero, but small.

In my experience, mid-sized towns are the most likely to have less-bad police departments. Small town cops are almost always just inherently twats. Big city cops are almost always all-in on the siege mentality.
