A US soldier died after sustaining injuries during an attack last week in Saudi Arabia, the military said, bringing the number of American troops killed in the Iran war to seven.
Expecting decency from the US military is a fool’s errand. If they had a decent bone in their body they wouldn’t join the US military (besides, any such decency would’ve been beaten out of them a long time ago). There’s no reason to believe these guys have any more respect for human lives than the folks who invaded Iraq or Afghanistan, and nobody actually gives a shit about constitutions when it comes down to it.
there are people feeling the conflict between their oath and their orders
And I’m saying that their oath will ultimately lose that “conflict,” because nobody gives a shit about constitutions when it comes down to it. They’re certainly not going to risk a court martial or a dishonorable discharge for the constitution. There might be something that will get them to do… whatever it is you want them to do (what are you expecting here exactly) but appeals to their oaths and the constitution ain’t it. You can’t reject imperialism without rejecting what it means to be a US soldier.

That’s a bit harsh. Young people they recruit don’t know how it is.
