I’ve written a few popups. Yes, we are aware, I generally dismiss them too. They’re almost always an anti-pattern / anti-user design anyway, so I try to avoid them. They are, I think without exception, thought train breakers and annoyances, even in cases where they may actually be useful.
I wonder if everyone who writes popups of all stripes is cognizant of how many of us just dismiss them all instantly without nary a glance.

But yet they persist
Even if they could be used for something productive that’s impossible now because of their extreme over-use and abuse.
Apps love popups right when you start it to tell you something important. Guess I’ll never know because my muscle memory was quicker than my eyes.
Yep. I’ve made sure to never learn anything from a popup.
