US Vice President JD Vance endured a chorus of “boos” as US athletes began their march at the Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony, after Israeli athletes faced the same unwarm welcome.

It’s not like we can actually do anything about them. Booing at least makes us feel good for a brief moment.

People are allowed to vent, and it is healthy to do so.

If you’ve ever been booed, I’m not sure this take would feel great.

I support making Vance feel unwelcome (and that was indeed the target, not team USA). I’m less enthused about the athletes being targeted. The optics of ‘we shame all associated to things we dislike’ is aspect conservative voters claim to fear/dislike from progressives.

I’ll have more sympathy if they publicly make statements condemning the genocide that their country is committing. Until then, sucks to suck. They are not the victims here.

“Dislike” is way underselling this. I “dislike” pineapple on pizza. This is something rather different.

Do tell: do you check if they have before you boo?

I know I haven’t. And the few times I’ve checked, it has always been more of an edge case than expected.
