1·14 days agoSeconding .zip! I haven’t had any qualms with it since joining a few months ago
A couple years ago I met a teenager for whom Evangelion was her namesake. It didn’t really hit me that NGE was nearing 30 years old until that moment. We’re reaching the point that the (non-Japanese) baby Narutos and Sakuras are adults now

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's an objectively terrible movie that you love anyway?
1·21 days agoI was not prepared for how incredibly boring Birdemic would be. The second half is hilarious but the first half drags impossibly long. For a movie about birds killing people, the birds don’t even show up until I think 47 minutes of this maybe 80 minute movie? I mean there’s the occasional laugh in the first half. That poster that was just a piece of printed paper taped to a wall with Yoko Ono’s website URL right next to that couple making out. I quote “she’s my hot Ferrari” on occasion. But it just wasn’t enough to justify half the movie being a romcom starring the most uncomfortable writing I’ve ever witnessed in film 😭 The director said he wanted this to be a “romantic thriller” but I’m not sure if he understood that you can tie two genres together at once…

2·21 days agoFascinating, because I’ve watched this movie with multiple people and never had any of them dislike it. I can’t say it’s a good movie but it’s certainly a experience

1·21 days agoMaybe it’s the movie equivalent of “acquired taste”. I loved it, even if the sound design gave me a headache, but I can’t imagine anyone who doesn’t already actively seek out strange movies enjoying it LOL

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's the scariest fictional media you've seen?
1·21 days agoHonestly I find myself liking his short stories more than I like the big series he’s famous for (Tomie, Uzumaki, Gyo, etc.) Amigara Fault is one of his short stories that’ll only take you a few minutes to get through if you ever think about checking out his manga.

0·21 days agoSurprised no one has mentioned the French horror movie “Martyrs”, it’s famous for being one of those movies you never want to watch again. I used to watch more extreme horror until I watched Martyrs, it shook me up for a solid week and I haven’t been able to watch horror as casually I used to ever since. It’s not very gory or in line with typical shock content, just very sad and upsetting.

4·22 days agoI just can’t understand this movement… I can’t wrap my head around why cooking your milk before drinking it makes it bad!!! I thought the anti-vaccination people were going to be as bad as it gets regarding science denial but it just keeps getting worse 😭😭
Did you ever find out what the first person was looking for? Is crunchy vanilla an actual thing or did they just want ice cream with larger ice crystals?
Extreme horror: food service-retail hybrid jobs, like the grocery store delis, meat counters, bakeries, etc.

Begging anyone else here with parents above the age of 50 to help me convince my parents to stop taking the AI overview at face value. I’ve explained to them calmly 100 times how the AI overview can and has been known to be inaccurate at times and that further reading should be done when using it but they just act like I’m some paranoid luddite and blow me off. I wouldn’t care nearly as much if it was just random stuff that doesn’t matter but they use it for medical information frequently. My dad is LITERALLY a medical professional and I’m a med student. It shouldn’t have to come to this. I want to bash my head into a wall. Please help.
