That’s how fucked our economy is. There is a significant number of people so close to the edge that buying an extra 10 days before eviction is the final gasp before becoming homeless.

And it ended up being like the finale of game of thrones, so disappointing.

He doesn’t know that they are actually to test for signs of dementia, His bragging that he passed four of these test are hilarious. that they’re so worried about his medical capacity they keep testing him is the only reason he’s taken 4 tests in such a short time

Progressive Politics@lemmy.world•[Video] Protesters demonstrate against genocide apologist Jerry Seinfeld in Illinois
5·28 days agoWow crazy seeing a theater I have subscription tickets on here. This is the Paramount Theater in Aurora Illinois, about 40 miles west of Chicago, and the home of Wayne in Wayne’s World.
Some context: https://archive.ph/p45Wl
That said, I was pissssd when they announced a single Seinfeld show, and then offered tickets at like $800
Now, at the same time, the Trump arts and grants clawbacks cost them a lot, at first they were warned by the city they would lose 3-4 million of 7 million given to them by the city, but when the budget came out in November all 7 million was cut.
So they are in a huge cash crunch, and I don’t know if they really had much of a choice after the tickets were sold and the protest started.
Besides the Seinfield crap the paramount really is quite a gem. It does 4 broadway shows a year, and they really rival the broadway shows in downtown Chicago. Until this year they also had a smaller 4 show package that were across the street at the Copley Center. Smaller shows and plays were also pretty great. When they were warned of the funding cut for 2026 the paramount cancelled the remaining 3 Bold series shows and only completed the first one of the four.
A ticket for all four broadway shows is like $150 for floor if you subscribe. It’s also a school of performing arts. They are inclusive and pretty awesome. I’m hoping this was a desperate misstep in the search for money to not have to close the theater and school.
I completely agree with the protesters but I also stand by the general good the paramount has done for the community for the last 15 years or so.

3·1 month agoA Boston judge has ruled in favor of a Massachusetts dad who sued his local school district to ensure his five-year-old son is never exposed to books featuring Christian characters.
As the Boston Herald reported, the father, identified in court documents as Alan L., is described as “queer” who objects to the inclusion of certain children’s books featuring Christian characters in the kindergarten curriculum of Joseph Estabrook Elementary School, where his son, identified as J.L., is enrolled.

Great catcher tho
I grew up with both, the paper ones were nice for “other” destructive purposes. And that you had a ton of shots on a roll.
The rings were nice because they always stayed in alignment. The paper ones would sometimes lose their pacing and the hammer would hit the spaces between the dots.
I remember seeing plastic 12 shot rings too.
