

Obligatory IANAL, but I think US law is similar. Murder is any premeditated killing of another person. Voluntary manslaughter seems to be spontaneously but intentionally killing another person, and involuntary manslaughter involves criminal negligence that results in someone dying on accident. It seems here they have decided that he was not criminally negligent… Despite the fact that he was drinking, the gun was loaded, he pointed it at her, etc
Texas corruption is just out here showing its ass on the world stage. I would guess some Kool Aid drinking gun nuts got put on the grand jury and empathized with the guy.
Edit: Well, after reading the NY Times article on it, it sounds like the prosecutors office didn’t really try to make a case to the grand jury. The girl’s mother is quoted as saying: She also said that the grand jury in Texas “seemed to have no option but to conclude” that “no prosecution could be brought, based on the evidence they were presented with.”




And the content they produce is easy to control.
